Sustain Exeter was formed with a view to making it easier to live a more sustainable lifestyle. We want to encourage you to shop with local businesses, use locally produced food and recycle more, but we’re not about shaming or judging, we just want to make it a little simpler.

Most of us are keen to reduce our environmental impact, but it’s not always easy. What can and can’t I recycle? Where can I get locally grown produce? Is it feasible for me not to use my car? Reducing our environmental impact takes effort, we all know it’s easier to jump in our car and drive down to the local supermarket. But what if there was an easy to use directory, delivering everything you need to know about local business and services? Well now there is.

Sustain Exeter brings together a wealth of information about local travel, giving genuine alternatives to jumping in the car. You may even save some money as fuel prices continue to rise, or take advantage of our cycle paths and walking routes and get a bit fitter in the process. Confused as to what plastic you can recycle or what happens to our recycling? It’s all here.

We’ve also put together a comprehensive list of local food shops and producers with a view to giving a genuine alternative to supermarket shopping. Our beautiful county produces some wonderful food, from meat and cheese, to bread and vegetables. Looking for a steak for that special occasion, delivered to your door? Sick of fruit & veg that’s travelled half way around the world? Eat in season and see what’s available at your local farm shop. Not only do you benefit from some for the best produce around, but locally produced food has a smaller carbon footprint and you’re helping to support local businesses.

We’ll continue to add to Sustain Exeter, and already have plans to include locally owned Cafes, Bars & Restaurants as well as listings for sustainable Toiletries and Cleaning Products. Have an idea or suggestion? We’d love to hear from you! Use the link below to get in touch.
